A new monthly music series launched January 21 at the 600-seat Canal Room in New York City. Called Musicians Stretching Boundaries: Redefining Autonomy, the first month of performers includes three singer-songwriters: Laura Warshauer, Jeff Stephens and Rachel Platten. Upcoming monthly bills are expected to be expanded to four artists each month.

The series is the brainchild of longtime music industryite Aimee Berger, an artist manager and executive director of Brand Partnerships at Primary Wave in New York. Berger told TicketNews that she is “promoting the series in hopes of assisting emerging artists who are building their careers, have already created a buzz and are being more autonomous because of the new tools out there, such as MySpace and Facebook, that enable artists to do that.”

Tickets are $10 at the door with a portion of proceeds benefiting Freedom Shout, Musicians On Call and Stop Child Trafficking Now.

Berger is also a co-founder of Camplified, a summer tour of up-and-coming artists who tour select summer camps in the northeast.
