Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, FL, home of Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, takes over the number one slot in TicketNews’s exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Monday, January 26. The stadium finished out the week with a monster power score of 22.66. Though initial interest in tickets appeared low for the game between the Arizona Cardinals playing the Pittsburgh Steelers, sales have picked up a bit because tickets are competitively priced, and this week the event trounces all competitors in TicketNews’s Top Combined Events and Top Sports Events rankings. The Stadium also will have a date on the popular Monster Jam Trucks tour in the coming weeks.

Madison Square Garden (MSG) moves up two slots to the number two position this week. MSG’s upward mobility is aided by strong sales for New York Knicks tickets as well as for a number of top selling tours with dates at the venue, including The Dead, Rascal Flatts, and the Dave Matthews Band. MSG power scores a 2.91 this week. Reliant Stadium in Houston, TX also moves up two this week, landing in the number three spot. The Stadium plays host to a number of well-attended tours in the coming weeks, including the Monster Jam Trucks and WWE tours, as well as Rascal Flatts playing at the Houston Rodeo in March. Reliant Stadium has a power score of 2.66 this week. The Gershwin Theatre continues a theme, also moving up two slots this week to finish at number four. The home to top-grossing musical Wicked power scores a 2.12 this week.

The TD Banknorth Garden once again this week follows the Gershwin in the rankings, coming in at number five. The Garden’s move back into the top five is fueled in part by brisk sales for its two hometown teams, the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins, at number six and number nine, respectively, in TicketNews’s Top Sports Events rankings. The venue also boasts a roster of top-selling acts in the coming months, including Fleetwood Mac, this week’s leader in TicketNews’s Top Concert Events rankings, Britney Spears and the WWE tour. The TD Banknorth Garden power scores a 1.87.

The Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA stays strong at number six this week on sales for Los Angeles Lakers basketball tickets, as well as for a number of upcoming shows such as Britney Spears, Fleetwood Mac, and the WWE tour. The Staples Center had a power score of 1.85 this week.

As a harsh winter pounds the East Coast, fans thoughts turn to baseball, with Fenway Park hitting at number seven this week. Power scoring a 1.51, the Park benefits from strong ticket sales for the 2009 season of its beloved Boston Red Sox.

The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV returns to our top ten, finishing the week in the number eight spot. With a power score of 1.19, the venue sees a number of top acts in the coming months, including the Dave Matthews Band, Britney Spears and Fleetwood Mac. In at number nine with a power score of 1.07 is the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA. The Center is scheduled for stops on the tours of Fleetwood Mac, Nickelback and the WWE in the coming months. Rounding out the top ten this week is new arrival the Air Canada Centre, in Toronto, Ontario. The Centre also plays host this season to top-selling acts Nickelback, Fleetwood Mac and Britney Spears, and it also will see a date on the Elton John and Billy Joel tour in May. The Air Canada Centre ends the week with a power score of 1.02.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
