Rilo Kiley frontwoman Jenny Lewis is shedding her indie rock band this spring and summer for a solo tour across the United States. The 30-city tour begins May 27 at Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, CA, and continues through a July 9 set at the Twilight Concert Series in Salt Lake City, UT.
Highlights include a May 28-29 run at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA, a June 9 set at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY, a June 13 appearance at Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN, a June 22 performance at Stubb’s Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, TX, and a July 3 concert at The National in Richmond, VA.
Before officially launching the summer leg of her tour, Lewis will hit a few Pacific U.S. markets in spring. The brief five-show run begins April 10 at Pipeline Café in Honolulu, HI, and closes April 18 with a performance at Coachella Festival in Indio, CA.
Lewis is touring in support of her second solo effort, “Acid Tongue,” which hit stores in September 2008. A blend of indie rock and alternative country, the record received mostly positive reviews from critics and debuted at No. 24 on the Billboard 200.
The record is a follow-up to Lewis’s 2006 solo debut, “Rabbit Fur Coat,” a soul-steeped project with The Watson Twins. In addition to her side projects, Lewis has released four full-length albums with Rilo Kiley, including the most recent “Under the Blacklight,” which hit stores in August 2007 and received high marks from critics.
