Ticketing systems aren’t the only ones having trouble processing fan requests for this summer’s high-demand concert events. Team Jonas, the official fan club for sibling trio Jonas Brothers, crashed before fan presales started at 10 a.m. (EST) on March 23.
Jonas Brothers presale tickets are available only to Team Jonas members, who receive unique codes to access the special sales. However, as fans flooded the site to log-in for the sale, the system crashed, blocking some fans from receiving their pre-sale access code.
According to published reports, some fans were delayed for more than five hours as they attempted to purchase tickets. Others sought a way around the site’s problems, buying an additional $35 membership to receive their access codes.
Within the past few months, Ticketmaster and Live Nation have come under fire when errors within the companies’ ticketing systems caused problems for fans attempting to purchase tickets for high-demand shows. Heavy traffic caused Live Nation to freeze during on-sales in January, while glitches on Ticketmaster rerouted fans trying to buy Bruce Springsteen tickets and opened sales early for select Phish tickets.
In a statement, the three young musicians apologized for the “intermittent problems” and explained that the site was looking into various solutions for fans.
“For those of you still needing access codes, we are in the process of contacting fan club members individually with a solution so that you can purchase tickets as soon as possible,” Jonas Brothers explained on their official MySpace page.
The remaining allotment of presale tickets will remain available only to Team Jonas members through 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25. However, a few additional presales will pick up at that time, as three venues have added second nights due to high demand.
Jonas Brothers are now booked July 14-15 at Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ; July 17-18 at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA; and July 20-21 at Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, NY.
The Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 launches June 20 at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Dallas, TX, and concludes August 31 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON.
