Comedian Jon Lovitz to open Los Angeles comedy club

Comedian, actor and writer Jon Lovitz, known for his catchphrase “Yeah, that’s the ticket,” is now getting into the real estate business as owner of the 400-seat, beach-themed Jon Lovitz Comedy Club. The new comedy showcase opens on May 28 at Universal CityWalk on the site of the former B.B. King Blues Club in Universal City, CA.

Lovitz will not only perform regularly at his namesake, tri-level club, but also play an active role in its bookings that will include veteran performers and comedy’s top newcomers. The club will offer two shows nightly. Lovitz will perform the opening weekend followed by Carlos Mencia.

“This will be unlike anything anybody has ever experienced at a comedy club, and it’s certain to be a smashing success,” Lovitz said in a statement. “We’re offering great comedy, great food and an atmosphere of a tropical beach resort. It’s so real, the club’s indoors, and I still got a tan.”

The Jon Lovitz Comedy Club will feature a variety of dinner and snack choices from Mulberry Street Pizza, Jerry’s Famous Deli and gourmet food from The Perfect Bite.
