Coldplay fans are in for a special treat. Beginning with the band’s Viva La Vida summer tour, which kicks off May 15, and continuing through every show performed in 2009, concertgoers will receive a free, live CD called “LeftRightLeftRightLeft.”

The CD will also be available as a free download during this time at the group’s official Web site, though physical copies will only be available at performances. The free giveaway does not include Coldplay’s festival dates.

Songs on the nine-track CD were recorded during the past year on the Viva La Vida tour in various cities. The track listing includes “Glass of Water,” “42,” “Clocks,” “Strawberry Swing,” “The Hardest Part/Postcards From Far Away,” “Viva La Vida,” “Death Will Never Conquer,” “Fix You” and “Death and All His Friends.”

“Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans — the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen,” said the band in a statement.

The giveaway is not new for the concert industry. A few years ago Prince gave out a copy of his current CD on his arena tour, while Bruce Hornsby did four times better by handing out his four-disc box set on his club and theater tour.
