Widely known for his well-honed acting chops and critically acclaimed turns in films like the Ray Charles biopic “Ray” and musical “Dreamgirls,” Jamie Foxx has been highly praised for the musical abilities showcased in both those films. The actor-singer will continue to display his many abilities and material from his latest album on the planned 50-city Intuition Tour of North America.

Only 10 dates of the tour have been confirmed at this point, from a July 2 show at the Grove of Anaheim in Anaheim, CA, through a July 19 concert at Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, NC. More dates will be announced in the coming weeks, and dates are expected to run through October 2009.

Though the tour technically begins July 2 according to industry resource Pollstar, Foxx’s official Web site marks the tour kick-off as a July 3-4 stand at The Joint in Las Vegas, NV. Other confirmed stops include a July 10 show at Reliant Arena in Houton, TX, and a July 18 performance at Sommet Center in Nashville, TN.

Foxx is touring behind his third studio album, “Intuition,” which was released in December 2008 and just recently received Platinum certification for sales. The album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, while its most recent single, “Blame It,” has placed within the Top 5 on Billboard‘s Hot 100, Pop 100, Hot Digital and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop song charts.

Surprisingly, Foxx made his musical debut 15 years ago with “Peep This” in 1994. Though the album did well in its own right, the effort was largely forgotten by the public until Foxx’s musical prowess gained widespread notice in the 2004 film “Ray.” The actor followed the film’s award-winning success with the chart-topping, double-Platinum release “Unpredictable” late in 2005.

Before jumping into his summer 2009 tour itinerary, Foxx will next take the stage on May 19 for a performance at the Canyon Club in Agoura Hills, CA.
