It’s been a turbulent year so far for Southern rock titan Lynyrd Skynyrd, which suffered the loss of former band members, bassist Ean Evans and longtime keyboardist Billy Powell. Despite losing two revered comrades, the band launched a spring European tour and has gone ahead with plans for a summer co-headline trek with Kid Rock.

Now the Skynyrd gang can add a solo tour to their growing list of concert commitments for the year. The five-week trek launches August 13 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, IA, and continues through September 20 at Sandia Casino Amphitheater in Albuquerque, NM.

Tour highlights include an August 21 concert at Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion in Gilford, NH, a September 7 gig at Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero, NM, and a September 15 show at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga, CA. Later in fall, Lynyrd Skynyrd is also due for at least two more concerts on October 30 at Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, LA, and October 31 at Moody Gardens in Galveston, TX.

The outing will promote the legendary rock group’s twelfth studio album, “Gods & Guns,” which is scheduled for release on September 29. The band recently announced the release on their official Web site, where they also revealed the disc will contain 13 tracks produced by veteran Bob Marlette.

Before the late summer solo jaunt, Lynyrd Skynyrd will hit the national tour circuit this summer with Kid Rock for the Rock and Rebels Tour. That five-week outing launches June 26 at Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL, and wraps August 2 at Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, NY.

Currently Lynyrd Skynyrd is touring Europe and will hit the stage next for a May 30 concert at the Apollo in Manchester, England. The international tour closes out on June 5 at Zenith in Paris, France, after which the rock crew will return to the U.S. to prepare for their other summer tours.
