Formerly a talent buyer and event producer for the House of Blues in Las Vegas, Max McAndrew will take over duties as the new Director of Talent for Nederlander Concerts in San Jose. McAndrew’s primary responsibility will be producing and programming events at the San Jose Civic Auditorium.

“Having Max McAndrew join Nederlander Concerts is terrific,” said Alex Hodges, the chief operating officer of Nederlander Concerts, in a statement. “I’ve worked with Max at House of Blues, and he is a talented promoter and buyer. He has thrived in a highly competitive market, and this will serve him well in San Jose. His experience in the agency field compliments his efforts because he understands the needs of artists, agents and managers.”

During his time at the Las Vegas branch of the House of Blues, McAndrew produced sold-out events by Prince, Justin Timberlake, The Killers, Chris Cornell and five consecutive nights with Dave Chappelle.

McAndrew has also booked and promoted the sports and music festival Extreme Thing in 2008 and 2009, in cooperation with the Clark County Parks and Recreation Department. The yearly event featured rock bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, Chiodos, Pennywise and Bad Religion.

“San Jose is a terrific market that has been underserved for talent at a venue the size of the San Jose Civic Auditorium,” said McAndrew in a statement. “The 3,000 to 3,400 capacity range is perfectly suited with other Nederlander venues in California and for San Jose.”
