Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band will perform a handful of concerts in the Northeast before closing out the old Giants Stadium with a five night stand on September 30, October 2-3 and 8-9.
The four new concerts land a month before the historic venue blow-out in the fall, leaving a window open for any other North American concert plans that the Boss might have up his sleeve. Dates have been set for August 19 at Comcast Theatre in Harford, CT; August 22-23 at Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA; and August 25 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) in Saratoga, NY.
Tickets for both of the Boston-area dates went on sale earlier. Public onsales for Saratoga started today, June 11, with the box office in Hartford opening on June 12. Primary ticketing in all three cities is being handled by Live Nation.
Springsteen announced his plans to perform the final concerts at Giants Stadium during a May 21 concert at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ. Originally booked for just three shows, the residency was expanded through October 8-9 after the initial performances sold out within hours of their June 1 onsale. All five shows feature general admission field tickets.
Though sales for the final two concerts at Giants Stadium began June 8, Ticketmaster still has field and stadium options for October 8. However, field tickets for October 9 appear to be sold out on the site, with only limited stadium seating options available for that date.
Springsteen launched his 2009 North American tour on April 1 in San Jose, CA, and closed out the spring leg with a second show at the Izod Center on May 23.
Ticketmaster ran into some problems earlier this year during onsales for Springsteen’s tour, specifically in regards to links directing customers from the site’s “No Tickets Found” page to the secondary subsidiary TicketsNow. The company settled a case with New Jersey Attorney General Anne Milgram at the end of February.
