Grammy Award-winning Koko Taylor, 80, recently underwent surgery to correct a gastrointestinal bleed.

The surgery should not interfere with her upcoming tour schedule, which includes festival appearances at the Getxo Blues Festival in Spain on June 12-13 and the Jubilee Jam in Jackson, MS, on June 20.

Other scheduled performances include July 11 at Vancouver Island Musicfest on vancouver Island, BC; September 18 at the Harvest Jazz & Blues Fest in Fredericton, NB; and November 6 at Knight Concert Hall in Miami, FL, appearing with Buddy Guy.

Aptly billed “Queen of the Blues,” Taylor received her 29th Blues Music Award when she was named Traditional Blues Female Blues Artist of the Year at this year’s Blues Music Awards on May 7. She has received more Blues Music Awards than any other recording artist. The award ceremony was also her most recent live appearance, during which she performed her signature song, “Wang Dang Doodle.”
