Indie rock darlings Modest Mouse will be back on the national tour trail later this summer. The 14-date run begins north of the border on August 17 at Halifax Forum Arena in Halifax, NS, and continues through a September 7 appearance at the annual Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle, WA.

Other dates on the itinerary include an August 20 show at Sound Academy in Toronto, ON, an August 25 performance at Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, IL, and a September 2 concert at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO. In addition to the tour’s closing date, two other U.S. festival performances have also been confirmed on August 28 at San Diego Street Scene in San Diego, CA, and August 30 at Outside Lands in San Francisco, CA.

Public onsales for all non-festival U.S. tour dates begin tomorrow, June 19. Canadian box offices open on June 20. A supporting act for the tour has not been announced as of yet.

Former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has performed with Modest Mouse since writing began for 2007’s “We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank,” though other commitments prevent him from joining the tour. Instead, former Grandaddy guitarist Jim Fairchild, who performed with the band prior to Marr’s arrival, will resume his duties in the lineup this summer.

Modest Mouse’s late summer tour will coincide with the release of the long-awaited EP “No One’s First and You’re Next,” expected to surface sometime in August. Until then, the band is releasing a series of 7″ singles, beginning with the May 26 release of “Satellite Skin.” The second offering, “Autumn Beds,” will follow this week on June 20.

The indie rock crew kicked off the year with a 21-date U.S. tour, which ran coast-to-coast from February 20 through March 15.
