The British Invasion is back this summer with a brief headline venture from The Zombies, featuring original members Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent, and The Yardbirds poised to hit North American shores later this month.

The two veteran rock bands have more than a dozen concerts scheduled on the Rock Royalty Tour from June 26 at Humphrey’s Concerts by the Bay in San Diego, CA, through July 18 at Nakusp Music Festival in Nakusp, BC. Highlights include a June 27 show at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA, and a July 10 concert a Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, NY.

Spencer Davis Group will perform on all but two nights of the tour as a special opening act. The Group, which briefly featured musician Steve Winwood, is not on the billing for concerts on June 30 at the Knitting Factory in Spokane, WA, or July 2 at Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham, WA.

In addition to lead vocalist Blunstone and organist/vocalist Argent, the revamped Zombies lineup also features Keith Airey on guitars and vocals, Jim Rodford on bass and vocals, and Steve Rodford on drums. The harmony-centric band, known for hits such as “She’s Not There” and “Time of the Season,” will perform songs from its own catalogue as well as numbers from Argent’s solo career.

The Yardbirds, known for jumpstarting the careers of Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page until disbanding in 1968, is back with original rhythm guitarist Chris Dreja and drummer Jim McCarty. Following the recent departure of longtime singer and bassist John Idan, the lineup has also been supplemented with the addition of vocalist Andy Mitchell and bassist David Smale.

The Zombies have two solo performances set for July 15 at Mod Club Theatre in Toronto, ON, and July 17 at Club Regent Casino in Winnipeg, MB. The Yardbirds are also booked for two solo gigs during the summer run on July 6 at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT, and July 16 at Jackson Rancheria Casino in North Sacramento, CA.
