With Michael Jackson’s untimely passing, 50 dates opened on the O2 Arena schedule in London, ENG, starting on July 13.
The British press believes that Swedish pop group ABBA might have been made offers. Like Led Zeppelin in the past, ABBA has nixed numerous extremely generous multi-million dollar offers to re-form over the years.
ABBA has made the latest headlines in refusing to re-form again. “No one has even asked us,” vocalist Benny Andersson told The London Sun, “and if they asked us, they would have ‘no’ as an answer. And even if it wasn’t happening in a week, no, no we’re not on.”
Apparently the rumor may have been ignited by David Campbell of AEG Live, who told the paper, “There’s a little foursome out in Sweden we keep talking to.”
“All of a sudden, they have 50 nights, and they are just empty, you know,” Andersson added. “I don’t envy the situation of the management down there. I understand that they need to do something, but we are not the answer.”
