They traveled across North America through much of the spring, and now Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band have expanded plans for the fall, as well. The iconic American rock crew has added more than 10 U.S. cities to the next national leg of its “Workin’ on a Dream” tour, which picks up August 19 at Comcast Theatre in Hartford, CT, and continues through November 15 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee, WI.

With the addition of the new tour stops, a total of 18 cities are now included on the concert calendar for the Boss and his band. The highlight of the itinerary is Springsteen’s five-night engagement at the old Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, beginning September 30 and closing October 9. The concerts are the final ones to be staged at the venue before it closes its doors.

Springsteen’s late summer and fall venture includes other multi-night stands on August 22-23 at Comcast Center in Mansfield, MC; October 13-14 at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA; and November 7-8 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY.

Public onsales for the recently announced concerts will continue through August. The next round of ticket sales begin July 24 for Springsteen’s shows in Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale, followed by a July 25 sale for his performance in Nashville.

Ticket sales for all Washington, DC, and New York City dates have not been announced yet. According to Springsteen’s official Web site, tickets are still available for his October 8 concert at Giants Stadium, though the other four Garden State performances are marked as sold out.

The musician’s site also noted, “Springsteen has now sold over 1.5 million concert tickets in 2009 alone, with the new dates expected to push that number over the two million mark.”

Springsteen launched his international tour on April 1 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA, and included more than 20 dates across the U.S. and Canada. The group is currently touring Europe through early August with the next performance coming up on July 21 at Olimpico di Torino in Turino, Italy.
