Jane Monheit and the James Carter Organ Trio have been added to George Wein’s Jazz Festival 55 at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI on August 8-9. Monheit is scheduled for August 8, and Carter takes the stage on August 9.

The festival opens on August 7 with Etta James & The Roots Band, along with Howard Alden/Anat Cohen Quartet at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport.

The Newport jazz festival lineup includes Mos Def, Branford Marsalis Quartet, Esperanza Spalding, and Christian McBride, among others, on August 8. Among those scheduled for August 9 are Tony Bennett, Dave Brubeck Quartet, Roy Michel Camilo, and The Bad Plus with Wendy Lewis.

Tickets for Etta James and Howard Alden/Anat Cohen Quartet on August 7 are priced $35-89. Advance tickets for adults on August 8-9 are $69 ($75 on festival weekend, if available); and $15 for childen 3-15 each day and at all times. Children under three will be admitted free. A limited number of two-day passes good for admission on August 8 and 9 are $125, while they last. Gold Circle tickets are $100 and reserved seats are $85.
