With just a couple weeks left on its North American summer tour, veteran punk rock crew Social Distortion has announced plans to follow the run with another leg of U.S. dates in the fall. The new trek will pick up September 18 at Majestic Theatre in Ventura, CA, and conclude October 18 at NorVa in Norfolk, VA.

Social D will hit U.S. markets from coast to coast during the one-month jaunt. Highlights include gig stops on September 23 at Belly Up in Aspen, CO; September 28 at Sokol Auditorium in Omaha, NE; October 7 at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ; and October 17 at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ.

The first round of public ticket sales for the new tour leg begins on July 24, with the remaining onsales following through the end of the month.

London-based punk trio TAT, currently on the road with the 2009 Vans Warped Tour, will provide support for the fall trek along with The Strangers, who have been touring with Social D throughout the summer.

Led by its only remaining original member Mike Ness, the veteran rock crew has not released an album since 2004’s “Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll.” However, Social D is in the beginning stages of pulling together new material with plans to hit the studio sometime in late 2009 or early 2010.

“We’re not actually in the studio right now cranking it out, but we plan on getting in there — we’ve got a bunch of songs and plan on getting in there and finishing stuff that’s incomplete and getting something done by the end of the year,” guitarist Jonny Wickersham told Vue Weekly in a recent interview. “I don’t know what the release 2024 on that would be, but we’re doing the Canadian run coming up and then a U.S. run following that, and then we’re going to get into the studio.”

Social D’s summer tour leg continues July 24 at Edmonton Event Centre in Edmonton, AB, and concludes with an August 8 performance at Wakestock World Series in Collingwood, ON.
