Since releasing his first record in eight years, neo-soul singer Maxwell has proven that he’s back — in a big way. Since returning from his hiatus with the release of “BLACKsummers’night,” the performer has topped the Billboard 200 and sold out tickets for his entire summer tour.

Maxwell hopes to continue his success this fall with a new round of at least 14 performances. The three-week autumn run begins September 25 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON, and ends October 17 in San Francisco, CA, at a venue that is yet to be determined.

Taking a step up from his summer tour of U.S. theaters, Maxwell’s upcoming round of dates will take him through some of the nation’s most notable arenas. Stops include a September 28 performance at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY, a September 8 show at United Center in Chicago, IL, and an October 16 gig at Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA.

The opening date is currently the only Canadian performance booked for this fall. In addition to the last night of the tour, a venue announcement is also forthcoming for Maxwell’s October 12 show in Dallas, TX.

Tickets for the fall tour will be available to the general public starting August 14 through Live Nation.

R&B and rap artist Common is the main support for the tour, though he will not appear on all dates of the fall venture. The tour bill will also include opening sets from soul singer Chrisette Michele, who also appeared with Maxwell over the summer.

Released on July 7, “BLACKsummers’night” debuted atop the Billboard 200 and earned accolades from music critics and consumers alike. In addition to breaking Maxwell’s new music dry spell, the album also pushed the artist back on the road for his first tour dates in about six years.

The R&B crooner made his live performance comeback late in 2008 with his Maxwell Live ’08 Tour. The success of those initial dates led to a late-year tour extension and his summer 2009 BLACKsummers’night Tour, which ended August 5 at the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, NC.
