Oasis cancelled its August 23 headlining slot at the annual V Festival at Hylands Park in Chelmsford, ENG, after frontman Liam Gallagher came down with viral laryngitis. Snow Patrol filled the headline spot.

“After a year of being on the road, this is the first performance to be lost to a band member’s illness, so naturally we are all gutted,” the band said in a statement on its Web site.

Hylands Park was the twin site of the V Festival, which takes place at two different locations over the same weekend. Oasis performed at V’s Staffordshire location at Weston Park the night before, prior to Gallagher becoming ill. Hylands Park was to have been the group’s last UK concert on their world tour, which began in Seattle, WA, a year ago.

With only three dates remaining on their tour, the band’s statement also noted that Gallagher is resting and should be able to resume the tour on August 28 at Rock en Seine in Paris, FRA, followed by concerts on August 29 at Rock Am See Festival in Konstanz, GER, and their last show on August 30 at the I-Day Milano Urban Festival in Milan, ITA.
