Temporarily setting aside her work as a brand spokeswoman and star of the silver screen, Queen Latifah will get back to her hip-hop roots this fall with a new tour of North America.

Eight concerts are confirmed for the Persona Tour, which begins November 1 at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC, and continues through a November 21 performance at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD. The one-month itinerary also includes concerts on November 3 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA, and November 13 at the House of Blues in Boston, MA, among other bookings.

Tickets will be available to the general public in most markets on October 2, except New Orleans (October 3) and Baltimore (October 8). Prices vary depending on the venue, but average between $25 and $50 for U.S. shows and CA $45 for the single gig in Canada. All shows will be on sale through Ticketmaster.

Latifah will be on the road supporting her seventh studio album, “Persona,” released August 25. The album, which debuted at No. 25 on the Billboard 200, has been billed as the performer’s return to hip-hop after a pair of jazz-influenced recordings in 2004 (“The Dana Owens Album”) and 2007 (“Trav’lin’ Light”).

In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Latifah described the new album as the sum of all her parts — rapper, singer, actress. “My acting, singing and rapping identities all came together under one roof, as well as my taste in different kinds of music,” she explained. “I’d say it’s half rap and half singing. If I had to categorize it, it would be more like hip-hop urban alternative.”
