Two of hip-hop’s hottest stars are teaming up for a brief co-headlining tour of the U.S. that will span two weeks and 11 markets.

K’naan and Wale kick off their concert collaboration with a March 31 performance at The Fillmore in New York, NY. The pair will hit cities across the Northeast and down the coast through an April 14 gig at Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH.

The itinerary also features events on April 1 at the House of Blues in Boston, MA; April 4 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, and April 11 at the Metro/Smart Bar in Chicago, IL.

Tickets are already available for the April 3 concert in Baltimore. Additional onsales will start February 19 for the shows in New York City, New Haven and Philadelphia, as well as February 20 for gigs in Boston, Cleveland and Columbus. Additional ticketing information is available on K’naan’s official Web site.

Both co-headliners are supporting 2009 efforts. K’naan began last year with the release of his sophomore album, “Troubadour,” which made waves among mainstream critics and snagged a No. 32 debut on the Billboard 200. Wale had an equally strong showing when his debut “Attention Deficit” dropped in November and garnered enough sales in its opening week to hit No. 21 on the Billboard 200.

Relative newcomers to the industry, K’naan and Wale will be supported on tour by producer and singer-songwriter John Forte. The former Fugees member is still in a period of transition after the late 2008 commutation of a 14-year prison sentence on drug charges. Since his release, Forte recorded the positively received 2009 EP “Stylefree” and began teaching at the City College of New York.
