After two medical emergencies landed him in the hospital this spring, rock musician Bret Michaels has confirmed that he will resume touring with a May 28 concert at Hard Rock Live in Biloxi, MS.
His itinerary features nearly 50 concert dates in all and is currently booked through an October 1 event at Sea World in San Antonio, TX. Michaels will also play 17 shows on Lynyrd Skynyrd’s summer tour, from June 10 at the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, FL, through July 11 at First Niagara Pavilion in Burgettstown, PA.
Michaels’ ability to complete these live commitments was cast in doubt when he was hospitalized after suffering a subarachnoid brain hemorrhage on April 22. But a statement on his official Facebook page noted that the rocker “has been rehabbing since his release from ICU, [and] has increased his rehabilitation sessions to twice a day to prepare for his comeback” later this month.
The brain hemorrhage was the second medical setback for Michaels, who had been released from the hospital after having an emergency appendectomy just 10 days before the hemorrhage occurred.
His team is currently working to reschedule any dates that were postponed as a result of either hospitalization. The former Poison frontman also has plans to tour through the end of the year, according to the statement.
In addition to his recent medical problems, Michaels was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in his early childhood. He has been a longtime activist for the American Diabetes Association, and is playing to benefit the ADA as a finalist on the current season of “Celebrity Apprentice.”
