Songstress Sarah McLachlan had a difficult time resurrecting Lilith Fair on the touring festival circuit this year. But with a fresh catalogue of songs at her back, the singer-songwriter will close out the year as she forges ahead with a new North American headlining tour.

The current “Sarah and Friends” itinerary bears just eight dates, officially beginning November 1 at the Verizon theatre in Grand Prairie, TX, and wrapping November 10 at Taft Theatre in Cincinnati, OH. The theater-booked trek also includes stops on November 3 at Austin Music Hall in Austin, TX, and November 8 at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN, among other dates.

Public onsales begin September 17 in select tour markets. Ticket prices vary widely from venue to venue, starting at the low end around $25 (Grand Prairie) and extending up to $85 (Biloxi and Nashville), according to current Ticketmaster.com event listings.

Each “Sarah and Friends” concert will feature two sets: the first features guest performers backed by McLachlan and the second turns the spotlight back on McLachlan as she performs a career-spanning selection of her own songs.

McLachlan, who released her seventh album “Laws of Illusion” in June, was on the road throughout the summer with her relaunched Lilith Fair tour.

However, the once-popular festival struggled throughout the summer 2010 season. Lagging ticket sales forced numerous date cancellations and causing several artists to drop off the female-oriented line-up; and criticism in the media was so persistent that festival co-founder Terry McBride issued a statement blasting the press for its negative coverage.

But determined to continue on, McLachlan seems to be making up for some of Lilith’s lost momentum. In fact, a number of dates on the upcoming jaunt are booked for regions where Lilith was cancelled, including Austin and Nashville.

Before launching her November venture, McLachlan will first give Lilith another shot on the road with an October tour of Australia and New Zealand. Stateside, she’ll also play an October 26 closing show at the 2010 Women’s Conference in Long Beach, CA.
