A pair of country music’s most critically acclaimed singer-songwriters have announced their first ever joint concert tour, which will commence in early October of this year.
Sisters Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer will embark on their first joint concert tour, and while only a handful of concert dates have been announced, this may not be the last time the sisters tour together. Both women have had successful country music careers over the past several years, with Lynne winning a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2001, and with Moorer repeatedly having albums chart in the Top 20 on Billboard’s U.S. Heat Chart.
The upcoming four city “Side by Side” tour will begin on October 3 in San Francisco at the Golden Gate Park – Speedway Meadow Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival. The next tour date is nearly two months later on November 27 in Tarrytown, NY at the Tarrytown Music Hall. Then the pair will travel to Alexandria, VA for a pair of concerts at the Birchmere on November 29 and 30. The sisters will wrap up the concert tour in their home state of Alabama, playing the Saeger Theater in Mobile on December 4.
While the tour may be short and may not hit some of the major country music cities, the novelty of having both Lynne and Moorer on tour together should be enough to sell tickets to the truncated tour. Strong ticket sales may encourage continued joint tours from the sisters, who plan to perform this tour entirely acoustically. The intimate nature of the all-acoustic shows will allow the pair to accompany each other on stage as they perform their greatest hits, including several songs that they have written and performed together in the past.
