After rallying over the past couple of weeks with the help of a bumper crop of new productions, gross ticket sales fell slightly, going from $19,984,864 to $19,676,091 this past week. Comparing the previous season at this point of $400,394,750, the current season has posted ticket sales of $399,700,838, a decrease of .2 percent.
Shows with a million or more in ticket sales were Wicked at the Gershwin, The Lion King at the Minskoff, Jersey Boys at the August Wilson, Billy Elliot at the Imperial and The Addams Family at the Lunt-Fontanne. Of the eight plays on Broadway, Driving Miss Daisy at the Golden posted the best ticket sales, $673,773. That also qualified as the largest dollar increase from one week to the next, by $308,498. Promises, Promises at the Broadway had the most significant drop in sales, from $1,116,639 the previous reporting period to $976,880.
Overall attendance continued to hover around the 80 percent mark with four theaters enjoying audiences at 95 percent or better. Those productions were “Wicked,” “Jersey Boys,” “Billy Elliot” and Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden.
Only two productions, “The Lion King” and “Wicked,” came close to meeting or exceeding their Gross Gross Potential.
Seven shows posted Top Tickets at $300 with “Jersey Boys” at $350. The Best Buy ticket as suggested by the Average Paid Admission was Lombardi at the Circle in the Square, $36.48.
It was announced recently that the Marquis Theater would host a Christmas show starring Donny and Marie Osmond this holiday season. It will run for 12 performances, from December 9 to December 19. It will be the first time they will share a Broadway stage, although both have previously appeared on Broadway.

• Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, a musical, opened 10/13 at the Jacobs
• La Bête, a play, opened 10/14 at the Music Box

• The Scottsboro Boys, a musical, opens 10/31 at the Lyceum
