Box office returns experienced a slight bump in spite of the winter weather with ticket sales reporting $12,537,379. That total is an improvement of nearly $200,000 from the total of previous reporting period of $12,343,577. The same week last season reported $13,619,685. Comparing numbers for this season to the last, ticket sales are 2.8 percent ahead.

Two shows reported box office receipts in excess of $1 million including “Wicked” at the Gershwin, $1,401,082 followed by “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark” at the Foxwoods, $1,338,162.

Attendance reported for the week overall was slightly over 77 percent, with “Spider-Man” at 92.19 percent posting the highest attendance followed closely by “Wicked” at 92.12 percent. Reporting the lowest figure was “Colin Quinn: Long Story Short” at 60.11 percent.

“Wicked” ranked highest in achieving its Gross Gross Potential at 83.53 percent. At the low end of the scale, “Mamma Mia!” posted only 36.72 percent.

Again this week, four shows posted tickets with face values at or exceeding $300, including “Jersey Boys” at $350 while the best bargain-priced average ticket was $57.63 for “Colin Quinn: Long Story Short” at the Helen Hayes.

Opening night is approaching for “Spider-Man,” now March 15 at the Foxwoods.

Three productions are currently on hiatus. “The Merchant of Venice” will resume performances on February 1, “Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles on Broadway” will resume performances February 8 at the Brooks Atkinson and “Rock of Ages” will reopen March 24 at the Helen Hayes.

Closing on January 30 was the play “Time Stands Still.”
