Box office returns improved once again this past week with ticket sales reporting $22,037,015. Ticket sales of the previous reporting period ending March 20 were $22,207,681, an increase of $170,666. The same week last season reported $20,739,845. Comparing numbers for this season to the last, ticket sales are 2.7 percent ahead.

Four of the 35 current productions reported box office receipts in excess of $1 million including “Wicked” at the Gershwin, leading again at $1,627,422, “The Lion King” at the Minskoff, $1,577,631, “Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark” at the Foxwoods, at $1,517,600 and “Jersey Boys” at the August Wilson, $1,011,357.

Attendance reported for the week overall was 85.65 percent, with 10 shows reporting 95 percent or better. The attendance leaders were the musical “The Book of Mormon” at 101.9 percent, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” at 100.47 percent, “Sister Act” at 100.02 percent, “The Lion King” at 100.04 percent with “Wicked” and “War Horse” tied at 100 percent. “Million Dollar Quartet” at the Nederlander reported the lowest percentage of capacity at 59.54 percent.

“Wicked” again ranked highest in achieving its Gross Gross Potential at 103.89 percent this week. Reporting the lowest figure was “High” at the Booth in its first week, 21.91 percent.

Six shows posted tickets with face values at or exceeding $300, including “Jersey Boys” at $350. The best bargain-priced average ticket was $30.51 for the new play “High” at the Booth.
