Following the path he started down on last year’s brief and successful New Blood Tour, musician Peter Gabriel has announced plans for a fresh round of touring later this year.
The British rock troubadour will complete a 12-date tour of the United States and Canada at the start of summer, though only 11 shows have been confirmed at this point. Gabriel’s jaunt begins June 10 at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, CA, and continues through June 27 at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, NY.
The U.S. portion of the itinerary also includes events on June 13 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Co; June 20 at the United Center in Chicago, IL; and June 24 at Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA. Only one performance, thus far, is inked for the provinces — June 22 at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto, ON.
Few details on ticketing have been announced for Gabriel’s 2011 tour. His Berkeley show begins presales March 31, and public onsales follow April 3. Lawn tickets will cost $49.50, while reserved seating will range from $69.50 up to $250, based on the venue’s Web site. Meanwhile, the site for Starlight Theatre indicates its onsales start April 4, though prices for that event are not listed.
Full-tour details will be updated, as available, on Gabriel’s official Web site.
As with the 2010 New Blood Tour, Gabriel will be backed onstage this summer by the New Blood Orchestra, performing new orchestral arrangements of the musician’s classic songs. Last year’s tour featured similarly recrafted covers of other artists’ hits, which Gabriel rearranged and recorded for the February 2010 effort “Scratch My Back.”
Gabriel’s ninth solo album, “New Blood,” is slated for release this year, though an exact release date has not been set. The upcoming album, like the tour, will feature new arrangements of hits from the musician’s lengthy career.
