More than 20 cities will get a taste of some classic prog-rock this summer as Styx and Yes co-headline the Progressive U.S. Tour, starting in July.
Exact details for the tour’s July 4 opening show have not been revealed, but dates are booked through August 3 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA. The first announced show, at the moment, is set for July 5 at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ.
Among other dates, the prog-rock vets will play July 12 at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts; July 20 at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, MI; and July 28 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO; and August 2 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
Public ticket sales began April 8 in Canandaigua, NY, but onsale dates are either upcoming (April 15 in Mashantucket, CT, and April 22 in Orange Beach, AL) or yet to be announced for most markets on the summer shed tour.
For the handful of concerts currently on Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com, ticket face values vary widely. Pre-fee prices start as low as $10.50 in Orange Beach and hit as high as $159 in Maryland Heights, MO, based on those listings.
More dates will be announced for the tour in the near future. Throughout the schedule, Styx and Yes will swap opening and closing duties, with a date-by-date breakdown available on Styx’s official Web site.
Both bands have had successful co-headline jaunts in recent summers. Styx toured extensively with REO Speedwagon throughout 2009 and joined Def Leppard on tour earlier in 2008.
In addition to its own on-going tour itinerary, Yes has shared the stage with Asia in summer 2009 and with Peter Frampton in 2010. The group continues to tour with singer Benoit David in place of Jon Anderson. Keyboard player Geoff Downes will also join the Yes lineup for its summer 2011 outing with Styx.
