As it turns out, Prince won’t stick strictly to Canada during the year-end Welcome 2 Canada Tour.
His Royal Purpleness is going off-route as a result of some recent schedule shake-ups and will now close the late 2011 tour with a new Welcome 2 America concert on December 19 at the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, WA.
Tacoma onsales open to the public this Saturday, November 19, at 10 a.m. (PST). Ticket prices will run between $20 and $199, before fees, based on the Ticketmaster.com event listing.
The schedule’s 10 remaining dates are still set for destinations north of the border. However, a previously planned December 11 show at the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon, SK, has been scrapped due to reported “scheduling conflicts.”
No additional details have been made available regarding the cancellation’s cause. The venue Web site has posted the following refund policy: “Tickets purchased online or by telephone will be refunded automatically. Ticketholders that purchased in-person must return to their point of purchase for a refund.”
An off-shoot of the Welcome 2 America jaunts that started in late 2010, the Welcome 2 Canada Tour launches with a November 25-26 stand at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON.
Prince’s previous “Welcome” concerts featured an ever-rotating selection of celebrity guests. Among those making musical guest appearances were Cassandra Wilson, Maceo Parker and Shelia E.
