Barbra Streisand has announced eight additional tour dates to her North American tour. The multi-talented star will kick things off on October 8 in Philadelphia, PA at the Wells Fargo Center, after which she will make two stops in her hometown of Brooklyn at the new Barclays Center. The tour makes a visit to Canada with performances in Montreal, Ottawa, and Toronto followed by another quick stop in the United States in Chicago before finishing up the tour back in Canada at Rogers Arena in Vancouver on October 29.

Streisand was originally scheduled for one night at the Barclays Center, tickets for that show, called Back To Brooklyn, went on sale Monday, May 21, 2012. TicketNews previously reported that the tickets for the October 11 show sold extremely fast leading the Barcalys Center to announce the addition of a second performance on October 13, just hours after the public on sales had begun. The Back to Brookylyn concerts will be Barbra Streisand’s first shows in Brooklyn, since she was a little girl.

Barclays Center majority owner and developer Bruce Ratner said, “It’s humbling and almost surreal to welcome arguably the greatest entertainer of all-time to Barclays Center. Barbra is Brooklyn and there’s nowhere more fitting for her to perform. This will be a night to remember,” as noted in Playbill.com.

Barbara Streisand has not performed since her European tour in 2007. After witnessing the overwhelming demand for tickets to her Back to Brooklyn shows, adding tour dates across North America was the next logical step. Barbra Streisand’s Montreal show on October 17 went on sale Saturday, August 11, 2012. While the remaining shows went on sale to the public Monday, August 13, 2012. Opening for Barbra Streisand are special guests Chriss Botti, an accomplished trumpeter player, and Il Volo, an Italian operatic teenage tenors group. Live Nation and S2BN are promoting the entire tour.

In the beginning of this year Barbra Streisand signed on a new deal with her label; Columbia Records. She released her first album, “The Barbra Streisand Album” with them back in 1963, only Tony Bennett has been with the label longer than her, according to Billboard.com.

“The Barbra Streisand Album” earned her two Grammy Awards in 1963; one was for Album of the Year, which makes her the youngest performer to ever earn that award. Streisand went on to earn eight Grammy Awards, 51 gold albums, 30 platinum albums, and 18 multi-platinum albums, which is greater than all other female singers, according to the Recording Industry Association of America. She has sold 71 albums so far, which tops the album sales by a female singer RIAA list.

Streisand is no stranger to sold out tours. Her last North America tours in 2006 and 2007 sold out and she holds the records for 27 of the venues she performed in on those tours.

Tickets are still available for the recently added shows and are all on sale now. For more information on Barbra Streisand’s tour please visit www.BarbraStreisand.com.
