The year 2012 will go out with a bang for Coldplay fans. The band will play three concerts at the end of December, including one at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, on New Year’s Eve. They will share the stage that evening with Brooklyn native Jay-Z.

This will be the second time Coldplay and Jay-Z have shared a New Year’s Eve stage in the U.S. in the past three years – the first time was a 2010 New Year’s concert in Las Vegas, NV. During that concert, musicians such as John Mayer, Beyoncé, and Kanye West, all took the stage as guest performers, according to SPIN. Coldplay and Jay-Z have also performed together in London this year, according to Coldplay’s official website, during the Closing Ceremony of the 2012 Paralympic Games.

Coldplay will play a total of three shows at the end of December. The first will be at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT on December 29. The second will be at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, on December 30, which they will be headlining, according to the Los Angeles Times. This performance will be Coldplay’s first in New York since 2005, according to SPIN. Their final show will be the New Year’s Eve performance with Jay-Z, also at the Barclays center. At this time, Coldplay does not have additional upcoming North American dates.

Tickets for Coldplay at Mohegan Sun went on sale November 16, according to their official website. On November 17, tickets for their performances at the Barclays center in Brooklyn went on sale. “They’ve done well [in the past],” explains David English, the Operations Manager of Universal Events. “They have a good following and a unique audience.” Tickets for their New Year’s Eve show could sell at a premium according to the Los Angeles Times.

While Jay-Z will be Coldplay’s co-performer for their performance on New Year’s Eve, the band Naturally 7 will open for the other two performances. Naturally 7 first met Coldplay in 2009, according to the Naturally 7 official website, when Coldplay invited the group to be in the studio with them the day following one of their performances. “The visit was somewhat surreal, which is to be expected when you’re talking to musicians you have the highest respect for,” Roger Thomas, a rapper that is part of Naturally 7, explained on their official website. Naturally 7 will be joining Coldplay for both their performance at Mohegan Sun and for their December 30th performance at the Barclays Center.

Fans of Coldplay who own Citi cards had the chance to purchase presale tickets to both of their performances at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn through Citi’s Private Pass Program, Coldplay’s official website states. The presale tickets went on sale on November 13 at 10 a.m. As previously mentioned, tickets for Coldplay’s first concert at Mohegan Sun, went on sale on November 15.
