Rapper Kanye West will take the stage in New Jersey at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City. The concerts will be held in Revel’s Ovation Hall. The shows will take place December on the 28, 29, and 30. These shows will be Kanye West’s second set of performances at the Revel Casino this year. The singer played two shows there this past summer on July 6 and 7. “Part party, part soliloquy, part skills demonstration, part endurance test, and part Monument to Me, the West show at Ovation Hall was one of the indelible concerts of 2012,” nj.com raves. During these shows, Kanye West was joined on stage by fellow musicians Mike Dean and Jeff Bhasker.
Kanye got his start when he produced multiple songs for Jay-Z’s album The Blueprint in 2001. After the “near-death-experience” West had in October of 2002, he wrote a song to remember a car crash after falling asleep at the wheel, according to People.com. The College Dropout, West’s debut album was released in early 2004. It sold 441,000 albums the week of its release. From that point on, Kanye West has won 18 Grammy awards and become an “international superstar,” according to a Revel Casino press release.
In 2012, Kanye West received a “Soul Train Award.”. West won the award for “Best Hip Hop Song of the Year” for his song “Mercy” which featured Big Sean, Pusha T, and 2 Chainz. Fellow artists who received awards include Beyoncé and Frank Ocean. The awards ceremony was originally held in Atlanta, GA, but moved to Las Vegas, NV. It was hosted by Cedric the Entertainer and featured a performance by Fantasia Barrino, a former winner of American Idol, according to the examiner.com.
Kanye West has been busy working on the album Cruel Summer this past year, as well. Cruel Summer includes different singers, rappers, and producers. Of the 12 tracks on the album, Kanye West appears on eight. Aside from appearing in the album’s musical tracks, West also produced or co-produced eight, according to nj.com.
The Revel Casino opened this past spring on April 2, with performances by Beyoncé. Ovation Hall, where West’s performances will be held, was designed by the Cirque du Soleil veterans “Sceno Plus,” as noted in a press release from the Revel Casino.
Citi Cardholders have had the opportunity to purchase tickets to West’s concerts since Tuesday, November 27 since Citi is the “official credit card” of the Kanye West shows. “He did well in the past and the presales are doing well” explains David English, the operations manager of Universal Events. Tickets to Kanye West‘s performances at the Revel Casino go on sale on Friday, November 30.
