Up and coming band, Passion Pit, is scheduled to begin their 2013 tour. The band is set to kick off 2013 in Norfolk, VA at the NorVA on February 5. It will wrap up a series of North American tour dates in Salt Lake City, UT at The Complex on March 2.

Following the first performance in Norfolk, VA Passion Pit has scheduled to play at Madison Square Garden on February 8. They will also play venues such as the Agganis Arena in Boston, MA on February 9 and the Kool Haus in Toronto, ON, February 16, according to the band’s website. Following the North American schedule, the band will journey south of the equator with scheduled performances in Brazil and Chile.

Passion Pit’s upcoming 2013 tour will be supporting their new album Gossamer. In addition, their song “Where I Come From” will be included on the “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” soundtrack. The song can be heard at the beginning of the film, which will hit theaters on November 16. “Gossamer” is the bands sophomore album. Passion Pit released their debut album “Miracles” in May 2009.

Passion Pit got their start in 2008, when they released their first EP, “Chunk of Change.” The band formed in Massachusetts in 2007. It is made up of Michael Angelakos on keyboards and vocals; Ian Hultquist on keyboards and guitar; Jeff Apruzzese on bass and synthesizers; Xander Singh on synthesizers and samples; and Nathan Donmoyer who plays the drums.

According to ARTISTdirect.com, Passion Pit was the brainchild of Angelakos while attending Emerson College. The band’s first EP “Chunk of Change,” was created as a gift to Angelakos’ girlfriend as a belated Valentine’s Day gift. The track was then recorded as an EP and officially released in September of 2008 after gaining popularity on the Emerson campus.

Passion Pit has continued to gain a following and opened for bands such as Death Cab For Cutie and Girl Talk. On October 13, 2012, the group appeared on “Saturday Night Live” with actress Christina Applegate. At that performance, they played songs off their newest album Gossamer,” including “Take A Walk” and “Carried Away,” according to The Huffington Post.

The group “Matt & Kim” will be a part of Passion Pit’s tour. This duo formed in 2004 and released their first album two years later. Their self-titled debut album “Matt & Kim” was released in October of 2006, according to their official website. Matt & Kim’s official website further states that in the years following the release of their debut album, they also released their album “Grand” in January of 2009, and “Sidewalks” in November of 2010. They released their album “Lightning” on October 2, 2012. To date, they have released these four albums and an EP. They will be touring with Passion Pit for all concerts on their 2013 tour.
