Rick Ross is hitting the road for a 23 stop tour across the United States starting Friday, November 2 in Columbus, Ohio and wrapping up on December 2 in San Diego, California.
This is the first headlining tour for producer and rapper Ross. The MMG Tour will span from coast to coast touching down in New Orleans, LA; Austin, TX; Baltimore, MD; Indianapolis, IN; Tuscon, AZ; and Sacramento, CA among others.
To date Rick Ross has released five studio albums. Four out of the five of them, including his most recent God Forgives, I Don’t, all debuted at number one on the United States Billboard 200 chart. The only one which failed to do so was 2010’s Teflon Don which was still a success debuting instead at number two.
God Forgives, I Don’t currently sits at the No. 79 spot on Billboard 200 13 weeks after being released. The album has produced the hit single “Diced Pineapples” featuring Wale and Drake, which has been well received on the radio and peaked at No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.
In addition to rapping Ross is also the founder of Maybach Music Group(MMG) under Warner Brothers Records. The group consists of Ross, Wale, and Meek Mill among others. The group’s most recent release Maybach Music Presents: Self Made 2 dropped this summer on June 26. The album featured a collaboration of Ross “Ricky Rozay,” Meek Mill, Wale, Stalley, and former B2K member Omarion.
Two members of the Maybach Music Group will be joining Ross on the MMG tour — Wale and Meek Mill.
Wale released his first solo studio album in 2009 titled Attention Deficit with Interscope Records. Despite the album receiving critical approval, it did not sell well. Early in 2011, Wale signed with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group. Since signing with them he has appeared on two compilation albums with other artists from MMG for Self Made Vol. 1 and the aforementioned sequel Self Made 2. Later in 2011, Wale released his sophomore studio album titled Ambition.
Meek Mill is relatively new to mainstream hip hop. The single “Ima Boss” off od Self Made Vol. 1 has been his biggest hit to date, reaching as high as number 20 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. He made his major label debut this week on October 30 with the album Dreams & Nightmares. According to the LA Times, early projections have the album selling around 200,000 units in its first week.
Also joining the tour is Bad Boy Record’s, Machine Gun Kelly. MGK came to fame through his four mixtapes Stamp Of Approval (2006), Homecoming (2008), 100 Words and Running (2010), and Lace Up (2010). Lace Up is also the title of his first studio album which was released on October 9. He was named the “Hottest Breakthrough MC of 2011” by MTV.
Tickets to see Ross and company on the MMG Tour are on sale now. Upon concluding the MMG Tour Rick Ross will also be making appearances for two holiday radio concerts. On December 6, Ross will headline Hot 9.37’s Jingle Jam in Hartford, CT and the following week he heads to California for a December 14 appearance at the Power 106 Cali Christmas concert in Universal City.
