Conference finals are in full swing in both the NHL and NBA, where the final four teams look to stake a claim at early June championship runs.
On the hardwood, all eyes are on King James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, who lead their Eastern Conference showdown with top-seeded Boston 2-0 after sweeping through the Pacers and Raptors in the first two rounds. Golden State, runner-up to the Cavaliers a year ago, is also up in its series against San Antonio having taken the first two games at home.
Things are much more in flux on the ice, as both the east and west finals are knotted at two games apiece after Pittsburgh’s victory over Ottawa on Friday. That’s good news with anyone hoping to make a big sale holding tickets for potential game sevens in Pittsburgh or Anaheim.
The NHL also announced that the Stanley Cup finals would begin on May 29th, with the finalist with the most regular-season points holding home-ice advantage. That means the Penguins have the inside track at hosting, if they can make it through to the finals. Anaheim would host if they face off against Ottawa, with the Senators set to host if they take on the Predators.
In the finals, as with the rest of the NHL’s playoff setup, the top seed hosts game one and two, then five and the all-important game seven.
