In shocking news that you’ll scarcely believe, the Super Bowl topped the chart in terms of sales for the year 2017, dominating the market (and featuring a pretty solid game, unless you’re a Falcons fan). Super Bowl LI – which featured the New England Patriots come-from-behind victory – trounced all comers to reign supreme in the secondary market, serving as the overall best-seller on the year across all categories as well.

The rest of the Top 10 sporting events were headlined by the World Series, which saw five of the Top 10 spots, beginning with No. 2 for its opener at LA’s Dodger Stadium. Game two, also in LA, came in at No. 4, while games seven, four and six rounded out the top half of the list at Nos. 8-10, respectively. The Fall Classic’s other two contests came in at No. 12 (game five) and 15 (game three) – both of which were held in Houston.

Boxing also had a strong showing in the Top 10, with Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor just ahead of Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin at No. 5, while Alvarez vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. came in at No. 7. Mayweather-McGregor, which famously featured a far from capacity crowd chalked up to a myriad of failures on the primary market, averaged the second-highest sale price in the market behind the Super Bowl, which helped it make up for low transaction figures.

Football featured heavily in the remaining spots on the list, with seven contests – five of which were played at the Dallas Cowboys’ home AT&T Stadium – making the Top 20 besides the Super Bowl.

Soccer (AKA the sport the rest of the world calls football) also made a pair of spots on the listing, with FC Barcelona vs. Real Madrid in Miami for the International Champions Cup coming in at No. 3, while Barca’s tilt against Manchester United (also for the ICC) came in at No. 20.
