The virtual band Gorillaz and the masterminds behind “Feel Good Inc,” are back with a new album due later this month, along with a brief tour.
Preceding the tour, Gorillaz will play a multitude of festivals abroad including Denmark’s Rick Im Park, Barcelona’s Sonar Festival, Lollapalooza in Paris, BoomTown Fair in the UK, and Lowlands Festival in the Netherlands.
The North American dates kick-off on October 8 in Montreal, followed by shows in Philadelphia, New York City, Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles, ending with their Demon Dayz Festival on October 20. The festival, which is curated by Gorillaz co-founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hwelett, does not have a specific lineup yet, but will feature special guests “within and beyond the Gorillaz extended family.” They will be joined on the seven-date trek by Little Dragon and The Internet.
The Now Now, the band’s eighth studio album, is due June 29. Albarn described the LP as a “summer record” and “very sort of in the world of 2D.” Compared to their last record, Humanz, the latest release features far less guests on tracks; only George Benson is featured on the single “Humility,” while “Hollywood” includes vocals from Jamie Principle and Snoop Dogg.
