In honor of the legendary pop-star Cher, the Broadway musical The Cher Show will hit theaters later this year, showcasing her story that has stretched over six decades.

Preceding the opening on Broadway, The Cher Show will play a limited engagement at Chicago’s Oriental Theatre from June 12 through July 15. The show is set to officially kick-off later this year at Broadway’s Neil Simon Theatre in New York City on December 3.  Presale tickets have begun, and general public tickets will go on sale next week.

The Cher Show will feature three versions of the star: Cher as a child, the glam pop-star growing up, and the icon today. It will showcase 35 of her hit songs, her two husbands, various awards, and as Broadway World describes it, “enough Bob Mackie gowns to cause a sequins shortage in New York City.” The show will feature the Tony Award nominee Stephanie J. Block, former Wicked and Finding Neverland star Teal Wicks, and the Broadway debut actress Micaela Diamond. Other notable cast members include Jarrod Spector as Sonny Bono, Michael Berresse as Bob Mackie, Michael Campayno as Rob Camilletti, and Matthew Hydzik as Gregg Allman. Georgia Holt will be played by Emily Skinner and Dee Rscioli will be the Standby for Star and Lady.

Tony Award-winner for Avenue Q, Jason Moore, will direct the show, alongside producer Flody Suarez and Jeffrey Seller of Hamilton.

Cher has been dominating the pop music scene since 1965 with her husband at the time, Sonny Bono with their folk rock track “I Got You Babe.” She continued her solo career with the million-dollar selling tune “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down,” and continued with hot-selling albums Take Me Home, Cher, Heart of Stone, and Love Hurts. She wasn’t just a mastermind in music either; Cher starred in a variety of TV shows, including The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour, and Cher, as well as Broadway shows and movies. Films Silkwood and Mask further catapulted her career, as well as Moonstruck, which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress.

This year, she is set to appear in the film Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, which will be her first film appearance since 2010’s Burlesque. Following dates in Washington D.C. at the Theater at MGM National Harbor this August, she will kick-off the Australian “Here We Go Again Tour” – the first in the country for 13 years. Then, this November, she will return to Las Vegas for a slew of shows at the Park Theater at Park MGM.
