A fake email began to circulate offering tickets to an upcoming Louisiana State University vs. Ole Miss football game, but the LSU athletics department says it’s a scam.
The email’s subject line reads: “Claim your FREE tickets for LSU v. Ole Miss this Saturday” and goes on to say that there are a limited number of reserved, exclusive tickets available. Earlier this week, LSU Athletics shared the email on social media and said that this offer is not true, and LSU doesn’t play Ole Miss until September 29.
.@lsu faculty, staff, and students. This email is not from our office. This is not an offer from us for free tickets to the Ole Miss game. Please do not follow the link! pic.twitter.com/Kibsp1NfMZ

While the email is false and the department urges receivers to not click the link, LSU tickets are on sale for this weekend’s game on September 15 against Auburn Tigers. LSU’s football season, which just kicked-off on September 1, features 13 games. Through late November, the team will face Louisiana Tech, Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi State, Alabama, Arkansas, Rice, and Texas A&M.
Since 2000, LSU is 2-7 at Auburn; The Advocate guesses that the final score will be Auburn 27, LSU 20 (1-2, 0-1) this Saturday.
