Rapper Chris Brown was arrested in Paris this Monday, reports say, after a woman filed a rape complaint.
According to AP and Reuters, French police say the singer, along with two others including his bodyguard, were detained. A French tabloid Closer reports that a 24-year-old woman alleges Brown met her on January 15 at the Le Crystal nightclub. She said that Brown, his bodyguard, and another man took turns raping her at a hotel that night.
Brown was reportedly in France for Paris Fashion Week when he attended the nightclub. He can be detained for another 48 hours before authorities decide to file charges or not.
This incident follows Brown’s recent legal battles; the singer has faced multiple charges dating back to his felony assault charge against his then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Since then, Brown was charged with misdemeanor assault after being accused of striking a man outside a Washington, D.C. hotel, and earlier this month, was charged for lacking a permit for owning a pet monkey.
Brown released Heartbreak on a Full Moon in late 2017, along with a string of singles throughout 2018 like “I Don’t Die” with Joyner Lucas, “Attention” with Fat Joe and Dre, and was featured on Lil Dicky’s “Freaky Friday.” Early January, he dropped the track “Undecided.”
