Clairo, a 20-year-old indie-pop singer, has been garnering some attention in the industry, and now, following the release of her debut record, she’s headed out on her first headlining tour.
The trek will stop in 30 cities, kicking things off in Chicago, Illinois on September 28. From there, she’ll visit cities like Seattle, Houston, Cleveland, Washington, D.C., and Toronto. She’s slated to stop at smaller, intimate venues like the Brooklyn Steel in New York City, Las Vegas’ House of Blues, and The Underground in Charlotte before wrapping-up at Paradise Rock Club in Boston. Fans can also catch her performing at New Orleans’ Voodoo Music and Arts Experience in October, as well as Syracuse’s Westcott Theater – right near her college campus.
In 2017, Clairo first gained attention from the single “Pretty Girl,” which went viral on YouTube just before she started attending college at Syracuse University, Syracuse.com reports. From there, she started playing small shows around the Syracuse campus while releasing a few covers and grew a bigger audience. She opened for artists like Khalid and Dua Lipa before getting signed to Chance The Rapper’s manager and has since played huge festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Governor’s Ball.
During an interview with The Boston Globe last year, she called her rise to success “insane.”
“Around this time last year, I was playing shows with friends from Syracuse and going to class every day,” she said. “I had no idea just how much my life would change in the coming year. I’m forever grateful that so many people have connected with the music that I’ve put out.”
Immunity, her debut record, dropped August 2 and features the new single “Sofia.”
