The London-based branch of CTS EVENTIM has called on John Gibson to serve as its new Managing Director. EVENTIM UK announced that Gibson, a longtime industry exec in Europe, began the role in January.

“I am delighted to have John on board in his role of Managing Director,” EVENTIM UK Chairman Nick Blackburn said in a press release. “He brings a wealth of experience with him; which includes an in-depth knowledge, and understanding, of all aspects of our industry.”

Gibson previously held post at Groupon UK with expertise in driving its live ticketing business. He has also held senior positions at Ticketmaster UK, SEE Tickets, SeatGeek and Vivaticket.

EVENTIM UK is now entering its eleventh year of operation and been an integral part of CTS EVENTIM, which is said to produce an estimated sales revenue 1.2 billion Euro annually. The European ticketing giant operates major venues throughout Germany, England and more. It holds stake in a number of festivals and live events, such as Southside, Lucca Summer and Rock Am Ring.

Earlier this year, CTS EVENTIM acquired a 60 percent stake in Swiss promoters Gadget Entertainment and wepromote Entertainment Group Switzerland AG. The businesses will now operate post-merger as Gadget abc Entertainment Group AG and will allow the European ticketing company to add an estimated 400-500 live events to its annual calendar.
