The punk-rock powerhouse Green Day is hitting the road in 2024 for a massive trek alongside the Smashing Pumpkins.

Ahead of their headlining set at Las Vegas’ second annual When We Were Young Festival, Green Day made a surprise appearance at the Sin City’s Fremont Country Club bar last Thursday. During the show, they played their smash-hit record Dookie in full, debuted a new song, and dropped some huge news.

“Big announcement — we’re doing a big tour next year,” frontman Billie Joe Armstrong told the crowd. “It’s gonna be Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid, The Linda Lindas.”

No official dates of the tour have been announced at this time.

After revealing the news, the band played a new song, which Armstrong said is off the new album, dubbed “The American Dream is Killing Me.” Ahead of the new single, the band has been posting teaser videos of zombies on their social media.

“Holy shittttttt, we just played Dookie in full, thank you for that Las Vegas,” Green Day said in an Instagram post after the show. “AND our new single “The American Dream Is Killing Me” comes out October 24th! Set those wake up calls, ya hear?? They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, but couldn’t let this stay… get ready ya zombies!!!”

Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool have been an unstoppable force in the punk-rock scene since their arrival in the early ’90s. Their breakthrough record Dookie, which included “Longview” and “Basket Case,” put them on the map in 1994, followed by the massive success of the politically-charged record American Idiot in 2004, producing fan-favorite tracks “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.”
