The Drama Desk Award-nominated solo show “A Eulogy for Roman” will return to New York two years after its acclaimed Off-Broadway run in 2023.
The production tells the story of Milo, a nervous young man who has difficulty in giving a eulogy for his friend Roman. It will be presented in churches and community centers in Manhattan and Brooklyn , with previews running from February 22 through April 6 and an opening set for March 6.
Instead of one specific venue, the show will take over The Center on West 13th Street on Thursdays, spend Fridays at Old First Reformed Church in Park Slope, Saturdays at Studio Exhibit on Orchard Street, and Sundays at Westbeth Community Room on Bethune Street.
“A Eulogy for Roman” made its world premiere at the prestigious Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, then made its way to New York for an Off-Broadway debut at 59E59 in 2023.
The play garnered attention for its heartfelt and honest portrayal of a sensitive topic, while engaging the audience by inviting them to actively participate in helping Milo prepare for his speech.
“Milo is trying to give a eulogy for his friend Roman, but the ceremony proves unexpectedly difficult, and attendees are voluntarily enlisted to help him complete the memorial,” the synopsis reads. “Together, they celebrate life, confront death, and make a promise of their own.”
Actors Blaize Adler-Ivanbrook, Ryan Boloix, and Richard Diamond will alternate in the role of Milo. Written by Brendan George and conceived by Peter Charney, “A Eulogy for Roman” features a direction by Ron Lasko, with original co-creators Brendan George and Peter Charney serving as creative consultants, and Jake Lemmenes as production coordinator.
