Coal Chamber Cancels US Tour as Frontman Focuses on Health

The nu-metal band Coal Chamber had to call-off an upcoming tour while frontman Dez Fafara focuses on his health.

The band’s “Fiend for the Fans Tour” was already postponed from August of last year after Fafara suffered a near-death medical emergency following long COVID. He was hospitalized, and the tour was postponed to spring 2025. Now, the trek has been outright cancelled so Fafara could focus on his health.

Fafara took to social media to share the announcement and pointed to the ongoing, destructive wildfires in California.

“First off let me say that we are sending prayers to all who are affected in these terrible California wildfires,” Fafara said. “We have many friends on evacuation or that have lost everything please donate or do what you can to help.”

He said that the touring schedule will be taken down until the fourth quarter of the year.

“For everybody that has shown support and given me positive comments, sent our family prayers or contacted us with well wishes, we want to thank you so much,” he continued. “It means a great deal to not only myself but my family during this trying time.

“I’ve had a very blessed life and in all lives some rain must fall and certainly over the last few years. It’s been stormy for my family and I with my health. I’m looking forward to getting healthy. My attitude is positive and when I’m ready I’m gonna get back on the road harder than ever with both Coal Chamber and DevilDriver.”

Fafara noted that there are “a lot of things in the works” with both of his bands, though “I won’t go over them now because I want to focus on this announcement and I wanted you guys to hear it straight from me.” He also apologized for the cancellation of these tours, but said, “I’m just not able to go do my job at 100%.”

Coal Chamber, hailing from Los Angeles, arrived on the scene in the early ’90s. The group reunited in 2023 for an appearance at Las Vegas’ Sick New World festival and then provided support on a tour with Mudvayne. They last released Rivals in 2015.

Fafara also perform with DevilDriver, which dropped the second installment of Dealing with Demons in 2023.
