Broadway’s “Chicago” is set to welcome Sophie Carmen-Jones to the stage as Velma Kelly beginning February 10 at the Ambassador Theatre.
Carmen-Jones will take over from Kimberly Marable, whose final performance in the production is scheduled for February 9. She most recently wrapped up her time in “Moulin Rouge!” where she replaced in the role of Nini, a character she initially portrayed in the West End production.

The current cast features Erika Jayne reprising her role as Roxie Hart, Max von Essen as Billy Flynn, Nakiya Peterkin as Matron “Mama” Morton, Greg Hildreth as Amos Hart, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine. The production’s casting is handled by ARC/Duncan Stewart.
Directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking, the musical revival has been a fixture on the Great White Way since its debut on November 14, 1996. With a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb and a book by Ebb and Bob Fosse, the show remains the second-longest-running Broadway production in history.
