“Old Time Rock and Roll” is back in venues across the country as Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band hit the road tonight in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the first of 25 announced stops. After a 10 year recording and touring hiatus, Seger and friends are back with one of each. “Face the Promise” is the new album and the nation’s heartland plays home to the first leg of the new tour.

Early reactions to the latest studio effort have been quite positive. “This is simply vintage Bob Seger rock and roll music,” says Zane Ewton of Rocknworld.com. With the rising popularity of independent and alternative rock, Seger’s latest tour is like a classic rock flu shot this winter. Rolling Stone magazine adds, “the strength of the album…[is] how Seger fearlessly remains Seger.”

The first leg of the tour ends with a 4 night stand at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Seger’s home state of Michigan. The tour also makes a surprise stop at Freedom Hall at the Kentucky State Fair on December 12th. Is there anything more American than classic rock, a state fair in the heartland, in a venue called Freedom Hall? Tickets for this very American tour are going quickly as most fans are predicting this will be their last one. The Rolling Stones make it impossible to predict a final tour for anyone, but this will likely be the last one for Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, who have contentedly spent the last 11 years with family and friends.
