Just days ahead of Jay-Z’s stop in Fresno, California on his “4:44” tour, the November 1 show at Save Mart Center was cancelled without explanation.

The announcement was made via the event ticket page on Ticketmaster. It says only: “This event has been canceled. Refunds at Point of Purchase only. Internet & Phone orders will automatically be canceled & refunded.”

Local news source The Fresno Bee speculated that the concert may have been cancelled due to slow ticket sales, noting that earlier in the week, tickets were selling on secondary site StubHub for as low as $6.

Since the tour’s announcement, it has been criticized for unusually high ticket prices compared to similar artists in the same venues.

Shooting for such a high price point did backfire. Now, secondary tickets to most shows on the tour are selling for below face value. Will Jay-Z lower his primary ticket prices to fill seats, or will shows continue to be cancelled due to in-affordability?
