Southern rockers Kings of Leon have confirmed a North American tour in support of their new record, “Only By The Night,” due to be released on September 23. The tour kicks off on September 23 at an exclusive club show in New York City. The full tour begins on October 11 in Las Vegas, NV, and winds down on November 19 in Nashville, TN.

We Are Scientists will support Kings of Leon for the entire tour. Additionally, The Stills are slated to open for the October dates, while The Whigs are scheduled for November shows.

The album’s first official single, “Sex On Fire,” will be available on iTunes and hits radio next week. The video is being shot in Los Angeles this week and is being directed by the renowned Sophie Muller. Videos promoting the songs “Crawl” and “Manhattan” have already been posted on YouTube.

“Only By The Night,” the fourth studio album by Kings of Leon, was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN. Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King produced the album. Petraglia has worked with artists such as Emmy Lou Harris, Brooks and Dunn, and Be Your Own Pet.

Kings of Leon consists of brothers Nathan, Caleb and Jared, and their cousin Matthew. The band is named after the three brothers’ father and grandfather, both named Leon. The group released its first record, “Youth and Young Manhood” in 2003.

Starting September 1, the band is going to begin hosting a series of home movies that document the making of “Only By The Night” on its official Web site and MySpace page. Every day leading up to the release date, a new home movie will be featured.
